Here are a few photos of Lucinda Manouch's paddle down the river Obra from Policko, near Miedzyrzecz to Skwierzyna in Lubuskie, western Poland. Lucinda can lay claim to being the first British solo canoeist to successfully paddle the difficult final section of the River Obra, between Bledzew and Skwierzyna, in a single weekend! Her achievement was all the greater as she made the trip in one of our Polish-made Canadian open canoes, rather than the more usual sit-on-top kajak or touring kayak canoes. During her ground breaking expedition, Lucinda wild camped on the banks of the river, and because of this and the isolated and unspoilt nature of the river and countryside, encountered a wide variety of interesting wildlife. She also got to sample some genuine Polish vodka and the great Polish delicacy, Pierogi! Her pioneering adventure in western Poland is soon to be featured in Canoe and Kayak UK Magazine.
